Privacy Policy

Private rooms
Private rooms are end-to-end encrypted. The encryption key is generated in your browser and only ever appears in the URL fragment after the #, which is never sent to our servers. We cannot read the contents of private room messages, attachments, or calls, and nothing from a private room is stored once the room empties.
Public rooms
Public rooms are not end-to-end encrypted. Messages sent in a public room are stored on our servers so that room history, previews, and notifications can work. Don't share anything in a public room you wouldn't want stored.
Accounts
If you sign in with Google or Facebook, we store your display name, email, and avatar as provided by that provider, along with which public rooms you belong to, so we can notify you about activity in those rooms.
